On July 24th, the U.S. government announced that it had expanded the visa program available to Iraqis who are now in danger due to the assistance that they provided to U.S. operations there. The number of visas available has been increased from 500 to 5,000. Principal immigrants may also bring immediate family members along with them, making the number of Iraqis coming to the United States under this program much higher than the original 5,000.
